The Luke Commission
The Luke Commission (TLC) is a faith-based, non-profit delivering compassionate, comprehensive healthcare to the most isolated and underserved populations of Eswatini. This small country has the highest HIV prevalence rate globally (27%). A motivated team of over 700 (96% local staff) carries out the mission of TLC, hosting over 250,000 patient visits annually.
GSV Impact: During the second wave of COVID-19, Eswatini border lockdowns meant the entire country ran out of oxygen. In response, TLC rapidly designed, built, and operationalized the largest PSA oxygen production plant in Africa, cutting the national COVID-19 fatalities by more than 50%. The God-Sized Vision Fund helped fund construction of the plant, which was accomplished in just 52 days. To date, TLC has cared for over 1,700 severe and critical COVID-19 patients.
